Hauser 6th Grade Orientation

The orientation for incoming 6th graders (students and parents) will take place at Hauser on Thursday, August 19 at 7:00 p.m. in the auditorium. Please join Ms. Berman, Mr. Wolf, and the 6th grade teachers as we welcome you to Hauser, review our procedures, and answer your questions. Schedules and locker assignments will be distributed at the orientation. If you will not be able to attend, please contact Mr. Wolf, wolfk@district96.org, to arrange an alternate orientation time.

Riverside Community Crossing Guards

The board has struggled during this last year with how to help the village with this issue in these difficult financial times. It is true that the School District’s financial condition is excellent because six years ago, community members in Riverside, North Riverside and Brookfield worked hard and passed a referendum for the Education Fund. And, since then, the board has carefully managed those funds to support our educational mission. As a board, we have to look to and protect the financial future of the district. We would like to support and help the village through their difficult financial times, but we as a board believe that the responsibility for pedestrian safety on village streets is a Public Safety responsibility of the municipal government and expending education funds for this purpose would be a mistake.

We are concerned for the safety of the children and pedestrians on Riverside streets and train crossings, and hope the village will continue to fund this important Public Safety program.
