General Information

Welcome to District 96 in Riverside. We are so glad that you have chosen Riverside District 96.  We are confident that you will find Riverside District 96 to be a wonderful place for your child to learn and grow.  Our mission statement of empowering learners through meaningful educational opportunities that reflect the knowledge, skills, and experiences needed for future success as an engaged citizen continually guides our work as educators.  We value our partnership with families in providing a successful experience for your child that allows them to be successful at home and school.  A successful education is a shared journey.  Our values guide our work and commitment to our students each and every day.

District 96 is unique in our flexible boundary approach to determining specific school assignments for new students. Click here for the student assignment FAQ.  Given the size of the district and the overall proximity of our neighborhood schools, we do not offer general transportation services. Students who qualify for transportation through the IEP process may be provided with transportation.

Residency

Students must be valid residents of the school district and provide proof of residency for enrollment. Proof of residency is required at registration.
 

Kindergarten

District 96 offers full-day kindergarten. A half-day kindergarten program is available to families that prefer a half-day program. A child must be five years of age on or before September 1st of the year the child is to be enrolled in kindergarten. According to School Board Policy, children who attain the age of five after September 1st are eligible to attend kindergarten the next year.
 

Registration

Registration helps verify that only children of District 96 residents attend our schools. It provides an opportunity to share information with and collect information from families that improve communications throughout the school year.
 

Birth Certificate

A certified birth certificate is required for each child entering District 96 for the first time. This applies to all grades kindergarten through eight and early childhood (ECE). U.S. certified birth certificates can be obtained from the state where the document was originally filed. Most states offer online ordering services.
 

Transfer of School Record

Parents of children who previously attended another district must complete that district’s student transfer form notifying them to transfer student records to District 96.

Pre-K:   8:30 am - 11:00 am or 12:15 pm - 2:45 pm
K-5 Elementary Schools:  8:15 am - 2:55 pm
Hauser Jr. High School:  8:20 am - 3:25 pm
 

District Hours

The District’s administrative offices at 3340 S. Harlem Ave., Riverside, Illinois (708-447-5007) are open from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
