Superintendent's Message

Dear Parents and Guardians,

The 2018-2019 School Year is officially underway! We were excited to welcome almost 1700 District 96 students through our doors last week. Earlier in the week our staff and faculty joined together to prepare for the arrival of the new school year. This year’s theme was District 96 students and teachers are INCREDIBLE! Thanks to the nearly 80 families that sent videos of their students sharing why their teacher is INCREDIBLE. Please check out our updated website to view the video and the messages shared by our students to their teachers.

As part of the welcoming activities for all staff and faculty, we created word clouds about what makes District 96 an incredible place to learn and grow. Take a look at the messages created by our District 96 team.

Martha Ryan-Toye

Superintendent of Schools

We have facility updates to share this year. Blythe Park School has a new roof and Ames Elementary School has a developing play space thanks to the recent demolition of the home at 92 Repton Rd. We anticipate conversations about long range facilities planning and creating action plans for the completion of projects to be some of the priorities of the Board of Education this school year.

Thanks to all of our parents, guardians and partners for supporting your child’s education in District 96. We know that new school supplies, homework help, packed lunches and the love and care you show support your child’s success. As always, thanks to all of you for your partnership in your child’s educational journey in District 96.

Your child’s teacher is the most important point of contact for questions about your student’s education. If you have questions or concerns beyond the classroom, never hesitate to contact your child’s principal or to reach out to our District Office team. My office hours are on the third Wednesday of the month between 4:00 and 6:30, beginning September 19th. Please email me if you are interested in setting up a time to talk.
